	While being an avid bass fisherman I also enjoy fishing for catfish, striper, walleye, crappie and other species. I looked into buying some rod holder bases for my boat for those night fishing expeditions for catfish and for the days & evenings spent trying to lure a striper or some crappie to tug on the end of my line. I was surprised to learn that the only rod holders on the market required drilling holes in my boat to permanently attach the mounting bracket. However, I did not want to drill holes in the fiberglass of my boat or leave any permanent mounts on my boat. I was also concerned that one of my children could be injured by the mount. As a result, I designed the Cleat Clamp™ rod holder base mount system, and applied for a patent. Cleat Clamp™ LLC was formed to develop and manufacture the product.
