Save Your Boat, Use a Cleat Clamp!™

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Does the Cleat Clamp™ fit recessed cleats?

Yes, if the question is does the Cleat Clamp™ work with pop-up cleats. See pic for an example of a pop-up cleat.

Many call the pop-up cleats "recessed cleats." Recessed cleats, however, can also describe cleats that are recessed by the shape of the boat. The Cleat Clamp™ will not fit these types of recessed cleats unless there is at least a 3/8" clearance between the cleat and the top of the boat.

2. What are the offset models?

The offset models are designed for the back of the boat or where obstructions are present on one side of the cleat. The pocket in which the cleat is inserted is moved from the center of the Cleat Clamp™ to one end of the Cleat Clamp™ for the offset models. Some also find this feature useful for other cleats on the boat as well. For example, if the cleat is away from the driver, the offset Cleat Clamp™ will bring the rod holders closer to the driver.

3. Starboard versus Port?

Starboard is the right side of the boat as you face the front of the boat. Port is the left side. The Offsee Transom Starboard Cleat Clamp™ is designed to fit at the back of the right side of the boat so that it will not hang over the bakc of the boat.

4. Will the standard model work on the cleats at the back of the boat?

Yes, as long as there is at least 6 inches clearance from any obstructions and as long as you do not mind the possiblity that the Cleat Clamp™ will hang over the back of the boat.

5. Will the Cleat Clamp™ work with rounded cleats?

We have a model that works with rounded cleats. At this time, the rounded cleat model is not on the web site. Please call (405) 884-2038 to place an order. A round cleat is depicted below.

6. What are traditional cleats?

Typically, they are flat. But some are slightly curved. See pics below.
